2026-27 Cavs Fantasy Preview

The Cavs scored in the offseason by landing Peyton Watson in a sign-and-trade deal with the Nuggets. Do they have enough to compete in a stacked Eastern Conference? How will their key players coexist moving forward?

Donovan Mitchell, PG/SG

๐Ÿ“Š Trend: โฌ†๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Key Stats: PTS, AST, STL, 3PM, FG%, FT%

โš ๏ธ Risk: ๐ŸŸข Low

๐Ÿ”“ Value Unlock: Sustain his career-best FG% from last season

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Hits:  Mitchell had a rebound season in 2025-26, improving his FG% from the previous season, while maintaining his high scoring volume. Playing alongside James Harden allowed Mitchell to thrive in his off-ball play.

โ“ Big Question(s): Can Mitchell sustain last seasonโ€™s scoring efficiency while keeping up the scoring volume?

๐ŸŽฏ Draft Range:  12-15

โญ Fantasy Take: Mitchellโ€™s value should remain stable this coming season. His value will hinge on his ability to score with efficiency while still chipping in categories such as 3PM and STL. Thereโ€™s no reason to believe that the Harden-Mitchell dynamic will go awry now.

James Harden, PG/SG

๐Ÿ“Š Trend: โ†”๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Key Stats: PTS, AST, 3PM, FT%

โš ๏ธ Risk:  ๐ŸŸข Low

๐Ÿ”“ Value Unlock: Harden can lean into his playmaking and passing once again to offset any potential declines in his scoring

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Hits: Hardenโ€™s scoring dipped from his peak, but he remained an elite playmaker and high-volume 3-point shooter. The turnovers remain painful, but his combination of assists, 3PM and FT% gives him a rare fantasy floor.

โ“ Big Question(s): Can Harden generate enough assists and 3s to offset a decline in scoring?

๐ŸŽฏ Draft Range: 20-30

โญ Fantasy Take: The market appears to be pricing in a steep decline. Harden remains one of the few players capable of providing 20+ points, 8+ assists and 2+ threes while also contributing elite FT%. His FG% and turnovers remain significant drawbacks, but his playmaking gives him a path to another strong fantasy finish.

Evan Mobley, PF/C

๐Ÿ“Š Trend:  โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Key Stats: PTS, REB, AST, BLK, FG%

โš ๏ธ Risk: ๐ŸŸ  โžก๏ธ ๐ŸŸข Medium to Low

๐Ÿ”“ Value Unlock: Restore his FT% and 3-point efficiency

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Hits: Mobleyโ€™s value took a hit last season as he shot a career-low 60.6% from the line after two seasons shooting above 70%.

โ“ Big Question(s): Can Mobley consistently make an impact on both ends of the floor this season?

๐ŸŽฏ Draft Range:  25-35

โญ Fantasy Take: Mobley had an off season, but at some point, you have to look back at the talent and expect that he will be able to bounce back. As of now, the market is hawkish on him, so take advantage of a valuation that he can surpass.

Jarrett Allen, C

๐Ÿ“Š Trend: โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Key Stats: REB, FG%, TO

โš ๏ธ Risk: ๐ŸŸ  Medium

๐Ÿ”“ Value Unlock: See a rebound in playing time

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Hits: Allen has seen his fantasy value slide in three consecutive seasons. Itโ€™s becoming more apparent that as Evan Mobley improves, or is featured more offensively, that Allen is getting edged out.

โ“ Big Question(s): Should we expect further decline from Allen?

๐ŸŽฏ Draft Range: 75-85

โญ Fantasy Take: It is becoming painfully apparent that Allenโ€™s frontcourt pairing with Mobley is not doing his fantasy value any favors. A return to his old ceiling is difficult to envision, but at this draft range, he doesnโ€™t need to get back there. Even a modest recovery in minutes could make him a useful source of FG%, rebounds and low turnovers.

Peyton Watson, SF/PF

๐Ÿ“Š Trend: โฌ†๏ธ

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Key Stats: REB, STL, BLK, 3PM, TO

โš ๏ธ Risk: ๐ŸŸข Low

๐Ÿ”“ Value Unlock: Turn defensive activity into a 1-1-1 profile

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Hits: Watson broke out last season while playing for the Nuggets, emerging as a scary defender who was sporting a much-improved 3-point shot. Watson is expected to fill a critical role for the Cavs this season, and the team will lean heavily into his ability to guard multiple positions.

โ“ Big Question(s):  Will Watson get enough usage to generate meaningful fantasy production?

๐ŸŽฏ Draft Range: 125-135

โญ Fantasy Take: Opportunities on offense wonโ€™t come easy for Watson this season. But if his 3-point shooting improves even further, weโ€™re talking about a whole different story. Things have to pan the right way for him and that would mean he generates steals and blocks to be a nightly 1-1-1 threat.
