2026-27 Jazz Fantasy Preview
The Jazz have been one of the NBA’s most frustrating teams in fantasy basketball due to their tanking strategy over the last several seasons. Their most productive players often could not be trusted. Case in point, their three best players played 55 or fewer games in 2025-26. Utah finally has enough talent that the tanking excuse may disappear, but fantasy managers need to figure out whether the new talent pool creates a rising tide or a usage traffic jam.
Lauri Markkanen, SF/PF

💡 Quick Hits: There’s no question about what Markkanen can put up on a per-game basis. He’s a high-scoring forward who delivers with smooth shooting efficiency and low turnovers. He has not played more than 55 games in the last three seasons.
❓ Big Question(s): Are the Jazz done tanking? Will they let Markkanen play in March and April?
🎯 Draft Range: 40-50
⭐ Fantasy Take: Markkanen’s notable absences over the last three seasons have left a sour taste in fantasy managers’ mouths. It’s better to let him fall to you later than to chase him early. Let the draft room’s risk appetite dictate where he lands. No need to force anything here. There are plenty of great options in the middle rounds this season.

🔓 Value Unlock: Rebounds are never coming. Keep FG% and BLK at reasonably high rates.
💡 Quick Hits: Jackson’s 2025-26 season ended prematurely due to a localized pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) growth in his left knee, which required surgery. The good news is that he looked great in his handful of games for the Jazz, though that’s too small a sample size to crack a bottle of champagne over. He’s expected to make a full recovery and enter training camp healthy. JJJ is also projected to be the Jazz’s starting center on opening night.
❓ Big Question(s): JJJ remains one of the league’s more special blocks-and-3s unicorns at the center position, but how can his playstyle fit with the new-look Jazz, and how will it translate into fantasy value? How can he stay relevant while being the Jazz’s third or fourth scoring option?
🎯 Draft Range: 35-45
⭐ Fantasy Take: I don’t see any serious roadblocks to JJJ posting top-50 value in 9-cat this season. His ability to add steals and shoot well from the line keeps his value in that range. At the end of the day, there will be several quality big men to choose from in his range, so pick whoever best suits your team build.
Keyonte George, PG/SG

🔓 Value Unlock: Improve FG%, take better care of the ball
💡 Quick Hits: Keyonte was a massive breakout player in fantasy last season, improving pretty much across the board. Ankle and hamstring injuries limited the number of games he played after the All-Star break.
❓ Big Question(s): George was the focal point of the Jazz’s offense last season, but with Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. coming back healthy and the Jazz drafting elite scoring guard Darryn Peterson, how will he maintain the heights of fantasy value he reached in 2025-26?

⭐ Fantasy Take: George should remain integral to Utah’s offense, but should cede some shots and usage to his other teammates this season. While his backcourt partner, Darryn Peterson, is projected to be a prolific scorer in his career, George is already ahead of the curve and having talented scorers around him should only open up avenues for him to improve his assists.

💡 Quick Hits: Peterson dealt with hamstring issues and full-body cramping during his last year in college, putting his durability into question heading into the 2026 NBA draft. That aside, Peterson has the blueprint to become an excellent two-way guard — a maestro when playing off the ball.
❓ Big Question(s): Peterson is ready to make waves in his first year in the NBA, but how well will his game translate into the fantasy arena?

⭐ Fantasy Take: Peterson has a lot to prove from Day 1, but the Jazz are believers and will not rush to judge him in his rookie season. It took Keyonte George to hit his third season before blowing up. While it’s good to temper expectations, Peterson is well-equipped to surprise believers and naysayers alike in 2026-27.
Ace Bailey, SG/SF/PF

🔓 Value Unlock: Hit more corner 3s, imrove steals and blocks
💡 Quick Hits: Bailey has the length and athleticism to be something special in this league. He flashed some of that in the last 30 days of the season when he averaged 20.0 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 2.9 3PM, 1.5 BPG.
❓ Big Question(s): Will Bailey be able to find the right role with the Jazz that will allow him to produce fantasy-relevant numbers?
🎯 Draft Range: 125-135
⭐ Fantasy Take: Bailey shined in the second half of last season, but that was when the Jazz had a lot of injured players and were in full tank mode. Still, Bailey has some promising momentum behind him entering the 2026-27 season, making him an intriguing late-round flier pick.

⚠️ Risk: 🟠 ➡️ 🔴 Medium to High
🔓 Value Unlock: Play over 25 minutes per game, average at least 10.5 RPG
💡 Quick Hits: Nurkic appeared to be a good fit for the Jazz last season, averaging a low-end double-double. But it was his career-high 4.8 APG and 1.3 SPG that turned heads.
❓ Big Question(s): Can Nurk earn enough playing time as a backup center this season to keep delivering meaningful fantasy value?
🎯 Draft Range: 125-135
⭐ Fantasy Take: While Nurk is not the most durable of big men, he’s shown he can shine when given enough playing time and opportunity. He could end up as a situational starter for the Jazz, but JJJ will be the five when they decide to play small. Nurkic will get some competition from Kyle Filipowski, so there’s that position battle to consider.
