2026-27 Spurs Fantasy Preview

The Spurs are still a young team, but they reached the NBA Finals last season. Will their expected improvement yield fantasy value outside of Victor Wembanyama's?

Victor Wembanyama, PF/C

📊 Trend: ⬆️⬆️

🗝️ Key Stats: PTS, REB, BLK, 3PM, FT%

⚠️ Risk: 🟢 Low

🔓 Value Unlock: Just do you, Wemby!

💡 Quick Hits: Wemby is still young, and his fantasy game is still getting better. Although his blocks and assists dipped slightly, gains in FG% and reduced turnovers largely offset those declines.

❓ Big Question(s): Is this finally the season that Wembanyama overtakes Nikola Jokic as the best player in fantasy?

🎯 Draft Range: 1-2

⭐ Fantasy Take: Wemby is a fantasy cheat code. He and Jokic are the only S-tier-plus players in the fantasy game. Whether you pick him first or second overall, there’s no problem – just make sure he doesn’t slide past that.

De’Aaron Fox, PG/SG

📊 Trend: ⬇️

🗝️ Key Stats: PTS, AST, STL, FG%

⚠️ Risk: 🟢 Low

🔓 Value Unlock: Find a way to thrive despite a reduced role with the Spurs

💡 Quick Hits: Fox saw five fewer minutes per game last season, and his counting stats suffered as a result. Both Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper are on the rise, so it could be an uphill battle for Fox to regain some of his fantasy luster.

❓ Big Question(s):  How has the market adjusted to Fox’s drop in production? Was his fall from grace last season something he can still recover from?

🎯 Draft Range: 70-80

⭐ Fantasy Take: Fox is no longer a high-tier option at point guard. And that’s fine, because the context is clear and we have a direction to take. He still has his uses; just make sure not to overpay for his services.

Stephon Castle, PG/SG

📊 Trend: ⬆️⬆️

🗝️ Key Stats: PTS, AST, FG%

⚠️ Risk: 🟢 Low

🔓 Value Unlock: Become a more complete offensive player, reduce turnovers

💡 Quick Hits: Castle turned a lot of heads in his sophomore season, emerging as a reliable fantasy guard for some points and assists. He still has a lot more room to improve, and we expect to see him take another step in the right direction in 2026-27.

❓ Big Question(s): What kind of new ceiling can we expect Castle to set this season?

🎯 Draft Range: 75-85

⭐ Fantasy Take: Castle is on a path towards greater heights in fantasy. He needs to improve his composure and take his 3-point shooting to another level. It’s just a matter of time until he gets there.

Dylan Harper, PG/SG

📊 Trend: ⬆️

🗝️ Key Stats: PTS, AST, FG%

⚠️ Risk: 🟢 Low

🔓 Value Unlock: Stable playing time, unlock 3-point shooting and improve FT%

💡 Quick Hits: Harper was a massive riser during the NBA Finals, and there’s well-placed optimism that his newfound confidence will translate into stronger play this season. He’s poised for a breakout.

❓ Big Question(s): Can Harper find room in the second unit to deliver in fantasy? Will he be able to leapfrog a De’Aaron Fox who struggled in the Finals?

🎯 Draft Range: 80-90

⭐ Fantasy Take: Harper is not a sleeper. People are expecting a breakout, but they also see his sixth-man role as a barrier blocking his upside. That’s not much of a concern, as he’s earned the right to log heavy minutes and even close out games. Buy into the upside he’s shown.

Devin Vassell, SG/SF

📊 Trend: ⬇️

🗝️ Key Stats: 3PM, TO

⚠️ Risk: 🟢 Low

🔓 Value Unlock: Transition to a strict 3-and-D role

💡 Quick Hits: Despite averaging over 30 MPG last season, Vassell’s downward-trending usage took its toll. Only his 3-point shooting kept his value alive.

❓ Big Question(s): Sometimes outshined by Julian Champagnie, are we at the point where we’ve seen the last of Vassell’s relevance in fantasy?

🎯 Draft Range: 145-155

⭐ Fantasy Take: Vassell’s game was not suited for the Spurs’ direction last season. Vassell became increasingly marginalized as the Spurs leaned more heavily on Castle and other developing pieces. Expect more of the same in 2026-27.

Tobias Harris, SF/PF

📊 Trend: ⬇️

🗝️ Key Stats: FG%, FT%, TO

⚠️ Risk: 🟠

🔓 Value Unlock: A second wind? Unlikely.

💡 Quick Hits: Harris saw his numbers drop last season with the Pistons. Without the volume to support his efficient game, there’s little meat left on the bone for fantasy value. Moving to the Spurs will not likely be a magic pill that will turn that trend around.

❓ Big Question(s): Will Harris provide enough volume in his counting stats to stay fantasy-relevant?

🎯 Draft Range: 150+

⭐ Fantasy Take: Harris’s best days in fantasy are long behind him. He’s with the Spurs as a veteran presence and a locker room influence. He can be ignored in most drafts.

👀 Players to Watch: Julian Champagnie, Carter Bryant, Keldon Johnson
